How to do it

  1. Pick a good photo of your pet

Choose a picture where the face and body are easy to see. JPG, PNG, WEBP and iPhone HEIC photos all work, up to 10 MB.

  2. Upload it

Add the photo in the studio. If the background is busy, such as a patterned sofa, choose the style that focuses on the main subject.

  3. Convert

Press Convert. In a few moments you have a black-and-white page with your pet in clear outlines.

  4. Print and color

Download the page as a PNG or a PDF and print it on letter-size paper. Make a few copies so everyone gets one.

Tips for pet photos

  • Get down to your pet's level. A photo taken at eye height gives a friendlier page than one taken from above.
  • Make sure the eyes and nose show. They are what make the page look like your pet.
  • Use daylight if you can. Flash can make white glare spots that turn into odd shapes.
  • Dark fur against a dark background can blend together. A lighter background keeps the outline clear.

Ideas for the printed page

  • A rainy day activity, or something to do at a birthday party.
  • A card for a grandparent: color it in, then add a message.
  • A class pet page for a classroom, as long as the photo is one you took.

Questions

Is it free to try?
Yes. Your first page needs no account. If you sign up you get 5 free credits, and one credit makes one page. You can buy more credits later, or not at all.
Does it work for any animal?
Yes. Dogs and cats are the most common, but a horse, a bird, a fish tank or a pet lizard works the same way. A clear photo with the animal filling much of the frame gives a clearer page.
Can I get rid of the messy background?
Choose the style that focuses on the main subject. It leaves most of the background out, so the page is about your pet. If it still looks busy, try a photo with a plainer background.
