Coloring pages from your own photos for the classroom
A coloring page about the class garden, the school building or this week's field trip holds attention in a way a stock sheet does not. With Color a Picture you take the photo, and a printable page is ready in a few moments. It is made for PreK to 5th grade teachers and homeschool parents.

A photo and the coloring page made from it.
How to do it
Start from a photo you took
Walk the garden, photograph the model volcano, or snap the landmark you are about to study. Any photo from your phone or camera will do, up to 10 MB.
Upload and convert
Add the photo in the studio and press Convert. You can add a whole set at once, for example one picture for each station in a lesson.
Check the page
Look it over before you print. If the page is too busy for your group, choose the style that focuses on the main subject and draw it again.
Print for the class
Download a PDF or PNG and print as many copies as you need on regular letter-size paper. Pages you like can be collected into a book.
Choosing photos for the classroom
- Use photos you took yourself or have permission to use.
- Coloring pages get handed around, so leave photos of students out. Plants, animals, buildings, tools and artwork make good subjects.
- Photograph one thing at a time. A single object with some space around it makes a clear page.
- Think about the lesson: a leaf for a science unit, the map wall for geography, the class pet for a writing prompt.
What prints well for a group
- Match the detail to the grade. Fewer, larger spaces suit PreK and kindergarten; older students can handle more.
- Black and white copies are quick and cheap, and children bring the color.
- Print one test page first, then run the whole set.
Questions
- Is it free to try?
- Yes. Your first page needs no account. If you sign up you get 5 free credits, and one credit makes one page. You can buy more credits later, or not at all.
- Does Color a Picture keep my photos?
- Your original photo is deleted once your page is made. Signed-in photos can be held for up to an hour while that happens. The Privacy and your data page has the details, including the outside AI providers a photo is sent to.
- Which grades is it for?
- It is made for PreK to 5th grade teachers and homeschool parents. You choose the photo and the style, so the same tool works for a kindergarten sheet and a fifth grade project.
